ALL SET FOR SUNDAY

This weekend we are invited once again to place Christ at the center of our life. This sounds so repetitive, but we are constantly being pulled away from Him. One of the things we hear is that we need to place ourselves, our families, even Church first in our lives. Yet, Jesus does not ask us to make any of these first—He is asking us to place Him first. This will be shown in what we do, how we spend our time, how we relax.

It is not easy to keep Him in the center. Like Peter, we can sometimes forgot to let Him tell us what will happen. Sometimes, we can let our good intentions get in the way. Sometimes we get pulled away by laziness. But we are always called to place Him first and centered.

NEWS FROM THE PEWS

This weekend we will be distributing the book Beautiful Eucharist. It is a collection of essays written to inspire us to keep Jesus in the center by focusing on Him present in the gift of the Blessed Sacrament. It is a good book to bring with you as you spend time with Him in adoration.

This weekend we are also bringing back our regular HOSPITALITY SUNDAYS. Each month a different parish ministry or group will be providing an opportunity for a get together after the Sunday morning Masses (we will work later on adding in the Saturday night Mass). This month the Altar & Rosary JOY group will be hosting and serving. Please take some time to stop, enjoy some good conversation and refreshments.

We also will have a Newcomer’s Breakfast following the 9:00 AM Mass. The Knights of Columbus and Hospitality Ministry members will help the AR JOY groups serve breakfast and welcome those who have joined our community.

We are also honored to host representatives from the Ut Fidem organization this weekend as they share an opportunity for our high school students—no matter where they attend school—to form small life sharing groups. Ut Fidem is a national organization that works with Catholic parishes and high schools to pass along the faith to our next generation by inviting them into a small community of care and concern.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

When you’re in the presence of the Eucharist, you are really in the presence of Jesus. We can spend time with Jesus in the Eucharist at Mass, but there are also special opportunities during Eucharistic Adoration–and these opportunities will deepen your faith and change your life!

Eucharistic Adoration is when you spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
During this time, you can pray in whatever way you want, bringing Jesus your needs, desires, fears, regrets, and more.

How to Pray During Eucharistic Adoration

There is no wrong way to pray during adoration! You can talk to God about your personal intentions, read a book, seek spiritual guidance, or simply offer thanksgiving and adoration to God. It’s a great time to practice Lectio Divina (slowly reading a passage, pausing, rereading the passage, pausing, reading the same page again, asking God to share His desires), prepare for the upcoming Sunday by reading the Gospel (taking a Breaking Bread missalette) ahead of time, or meditating on the Rosary. Even just sitting in silence and allowing for God’s presence to wash over you is an appropriate way to spend time in adoration! The important part of adoration is to spend time with the One you love!

When can I spend time in Adoration at Saint Pius?

Monday: 8:45 to 10:00 AM in the church

Monday: 6:00 to 10:00 PM in the Adoration Chapel (lower level off the East Parking lot)

Tuesday: 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the Adoration Chapel

Wednesday: 9:00 to 9:30 AM in the church

Wednesday: 5:45 to 7:30 PM on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Wednesdays of the month in the church (the first Wednesday is an opportunity for our Faith Formation classes to use the church)

Thursday: 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM, over the noon hour in the church

First Friday of the month: 7:00 PM with the Encounter experience.
