At Confirmation, Christ seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can be better equipped to spread the Gospel like the Apostles at Pentecost. But it’s not enough to just receive these gifts. We have to accept them and choose to use them.

Bishop Joensen has been working with a Diocesan Task Force and have determined the Sacrament of Confirmation will be shifting from 10th Grade to 6th Grade. This year sophomores will receive the sacrament on Sunday, April 25. In the fall of 2027, freshmen will receive the sacrament on Sunday, September 26. You can read more and watch Bishop Joensen's video on their website. Visit Rite of Confirmation | Diocese of Des Moines. You must be a parishioner to go through Confirmation prep at St. Pius X.

Never before have our youth been under such pressure to conform to materialistic values of the American culture. They deserve a Confirmation process in which the voice of the Gospel is as equally compelling. That means, a small group program that is mentor-based; one that is easily individualized and expects more from our teens than their simple attendance. This program calls our young people to go deeper in their faith and invites them to encounter Jesus Christ in a real way.
