SAINT PIUS X, POPE OF THE EUCHARIST, PRAY FOR US.
During this month of August, we celebrate our patron in a special way. There are several prayers attributed to our patron as well as several that ask for his intercession. It is fitting as our nation enters the period of living the Eucharistic Revival that we turn to the Pope of the Eucharist to pray for us.
Glorious Pope of the Eucharist, Saint Pius X, you sought "to resore all things in Christ." Obtain for us a true love of Jesus so that we may live only for Him. Help us to acquire a lively fervor and a sincere will to strive for sanctity of life, and that we may avail ourselves of the riches of the Holy Eucharist in sacrifice and sacrament. By your love for Mary, mother and queen of all, inflame our hearts with tender devotion to her.
Dispel confusion and hatred and anxiety, and incline our hearts to peace and concord so that all nations will place themselves under the sweet reign of Christ who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
Saint Pius X, pray for us.
ALL SET FOR SUNDAY
The readings can be found here.
We continue this Sunday reading from Saint John’s sixth chapter where Jesus offers us a reflection on the Eucharist. God gives us what we need—Himself. God gives us Himself through the Bread from Heaven. God gives us Himself in the Eucharist.
NEWS FROM THE PEWS
It’s August which means that we are beginning another season of ministry. This coming week our School Council will meet. The following week our Pastoral Council will meet. The fourth week of the month our Finance Council will meet. Each of these Councils serves as advisors to the Pastor for the good of our community. Each Council is concerned with how we can live our mission and achieve the vision for this amazing parish. Please pray for these important groups who help with the work of making Saint Pius home and equipping us to live our mission.
Our Feast Day celebration is coming up on August 18. The weekend will include a wonderful picnic style meal following our 11:00 AM Mass with games and fun. We will introduce our new discipleship prayer, announce a fun contest for the whole community, and more—please join us.
This year we will be inviting you to help realize our vision to make Saint Pius a home for this community of disciples and to equip them to live our mission. We will do this through a two-prong approach. The first is to invite you to join a small group. The purpose of our small groups is to allow each member to encounter Jesus by sharing life together. You won’t have to know anything special, do anything weird or be in charge of any event. You will be hearing more about this each week this month. Please start praying for the success of this vision.
If you haven’t seen our Facebook page—check it out. Father Daniel has posted amazing photos of his village in Ghana, especially of Sacred Heart church and the beginnings of the new rectory.
