At Confirmation, Christ seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can be better equipped to spread the Gospel like the Apostles at Pentecost. But it’s not enough to just receive these gifts. We have to accept them and choose to use them.

Bishop Joensen has been working with a Diocesan Task Force and have determined the Sacrament of Confirmation will be shifting from 10th Grade to 6th Grade. There will be no change this year. Never before have our youth been under such pressure to conform to materialistic values of the American culture. They deserve a Confirmation process in which the voice of the Gospel is as equally compelling. What resulted was a program unlike anything in the Diocese of Des Moines. It is a mentor-based program; one that is easily individualized and expects more from our teens than their simple attendance. This program calls our young people to go deeper in their faith and invites them to encounter Jesus Christ in a real way.
